Capt. John’s charters fishing Lake Michigan are designed uniquely to chase fish within a mile of shore most of the time on light stand-up tackle catching trophy fish of a lifetime!
Most charters are out of Capt. John’s Alumacraft Tournament Pro 185 Tiller boat, but if drift fishing is of interest to you, Capt. John can accommodate wading several Lake Michigan tributaries.
Fly fishing anglers are welcome too! Capt. John can guide you to many tributary locations with great fly fishing water.
Fishing with light stand up gear is similar to fishing for bass or walleye on inland lakes. Casting and working baits is unique and is set apart from the traditional trolling charters. Working the bait, feeling the bite, setting the hook and fighting the fish is a blast and is truly addictive fishing with light spinning gear.
There are days where trolling will out produce casting, but yet Capt. John will put you on fish utilizing walleye style trolling gear presenting a great fight on light gear.
In the winter, ice fishing harbors in Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha present an awesome trout bite catching a solid mix of Rainbow Trout (Steelhead) and Brown Trout. Most years we will have safe ice from January through March.
Milder years Capt. John will guide you to a fast paced trout bite fishing from the boat in protected areas within the harbor or fishing up river chasing huge browns and rainbows.
Using Quality gear and the latest in tackle you will earn how to rig live bait, cast and work artificial baits including products from Berkley, Gulp!, Fenwick, Kalin’s, Power Bait, Smithwick, XCalibur, Automatic Fisherman, Frabill to name a few.
